DON’T LOOK BACK NOW

We are thrilled to announce both the existence, and the streaming premiere, of DON’T LOOK BACK NOW, my first full length concert film!

Filmed with four cameras, over two shows at Union Hall, Brooklyn, on October 27th 2008, this film is especially for those of you who miss the live experience: the sweat, the proximity, the forgotten lyrics. This is far better than a Zoom show with me sitting at my desk: it looks and sounds beautiful. It’s what you really want to see (as opposed to being the only thing we can bring you) and it’s the absolutely closest thing to being at one of my shows. And - as luck would have it - I’m playing all your favourite songs. How do I know? Because we asked you to choose the set list way back then, and you did.

It’s completely free. And what’s more, I will be on hand, with Robert Lloyd and Chris von Sneidern, to discuss what we're seeing and to answer any pertinent questions you may have. The film will then disappear!

HOWEVER, Friday 5th February, the first Bandcamp Friday of 2021, the soundtrack of the movie will be up for sale for $10 on my Bandcamp page and with your purchase comes a free high rez download of the entire film which will not be available elsewhere for the foreseeable future.

The movie features seventeen songs, on which I am accompanied by Robert and Chris in the best-of-all-possible-worlds trio format, with invaluable assistance from Deni Bonet and Josh Ritter. Twelve of these songs were previously released on the bonus CD with Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead, and the movie adds five more:

1. Kiss Me Miss Liberty
2. The Person You Are
3. The People’s Drug
4. Still Photo
5. Cupid and Psycho*
6. Top of the Bottom
7. Negative Love
8. Monkey and his Cat
9. Kill The Messenger
10. Spaced Cowgirl*
11. The Truth
12. Humble Bee*
13. Our Lady of the Highways
14. Save a Little Room For Me*
15. Window Seat
16. July 13th 1985 (The Live Aid Song)*
17. The Devil in Me

So your Bandcamp purchase on Friday will either be of a 17 song live album with a free film, or a 90 minute concert film with 12 songs on a CD you already had, but five you didn't. Think of it how you like. Our hope is that you will watch with us, then buy the album with the film download the next day. The film will be available for free download through March 5th, 2021 with purchase of the album, Don't Look Back Now, and then it will self-destruct. Not your copy: that’s forever. But you won’t be able to download it from Bandcamp anymore: so you have a month and a day to do that.

The beautiful titles are designed by Stefan G. Bucher; the album cover and film poster are designed by Morgan Narkiewicz; and the film is edited by Tom Ledermann, and produced by Wes and Matt Grady.
